Meeting minutes from meeting of 01/23/07

  • This months meeting was SAMA's 18th
  • A specific focus of this months meeting was the upcoming Catholic Men's conference on Saturday march 3rd at Music Hall.

Remember that this event was one of the things that initiated our Men's group and was a huge and rousing success last year, where we increased St. Ann's attendance into the 30-person range.

We are hoping for similar attendance this year, but the response to date has been slow.

Please consider getting your $35 ticket cost into Ray Roesner or Greg Hardig Sr. or Jim O'Shaughnessy as soon as possible if you can attend.

Currently: we are planning on meeting in the parking lot at 7:15 a.m. on March 3:00, leaving for downtown around 7:30 a.m. Looks like we will have rides available if you don't want to drive.
  • There are plans in the work for a repeat of last years extremely successful Indiana style Chicken dinner. Volunteers are needed for this event.

Especially: Jim O'Shaughnessy will need 3-4 volunteers throughout the event to assist with finances, especially near the end of the event.
  • Tomorrow, Saturday the 3rd is a St. Ann's parish dance for adults from 8:00 to 1:00 in the gym. Tickets are $15 ($30 per couple) and can be had by calling 521-5244. Come join several SAMA members at this event!
  • Jim O'Shaughnessy gave this year's Treasury report at this meeting. We had $1020 available at the start of the meeting (though we spent about 1/2 of that during the course of the meeting). Way to go, SAMA! Special thanks to Jim O'Shaughnessy who did a fantastic, professional quality job with the group's finances.
  • Several people reminded the group to begin thinking about volunteering for help with the festival in late May
  • Anybody wanna step up? SAMA has been asked to organize this year's potential end of the school year campout at Winton Woods: This is probably late reaching anyone interested: The family who has handled this in previous years (The Wissels?) cannot this year. Usually, plans for this would be well under way by now, but there is still time. Let bob Thinnes know if you think you could help with this, and I'm sure we can "spread the wealth" among a couple of volunteers. If you have some experience with this in past years that would be especially helpful. Tentative dates are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday June 8, 9, 10th
  • There was a reminder to keep SAMA member Scott Kihnke in your prayers as he serves his nation in Germany. We're thinking of you, Scott.
  • I'm a little fuzzy on the details on this one, but there will be a motivational speaker named Matthew Kelly near St. Ann's on May 2nd + 3rd. He is highly recommended if you can attend. I'll pass on more details next month.
  • We had the usual readings and prayers this month, and just enjoyed the time together. Hope you can make next months meeting.

Next meeting is Feb. 27th 2007. Look forward to seeing you all then.
