Meeting minutes from meeting of 03/29/07
- This months meeting was SAMA's 20th
- About 12 members attended this months meeting.
- Ray Roesner: Recapped the highlights of this years Men's Catholic conference at Music Hall. In spite of a no-show by one speaker (Sen. Brownback), those of us who attended this year's conference in general want to share with you the high quality of this event. Please consider joining us next year if you can find the time.
- Note for future attendees: Several of our group had asked prior to this event if it was "likely appropriate" for younger men (teenage sons or other friends/relatives). It likely is, just a day spent in reflecting on your faith.
- SAMA was well represented this year, and in fact there were speakers who mentioned some of our members (anonymously). The St. Ann's "Group" represented the second largest parish attendance of the city, behind St. Johns White Oak. Must be something in the water out here!
- Greg Hardig Senior urged members present to consider attending one of the Services on Good Friday (3:00 and 7:00). Greg urged us all to reflect on the nature of the sacrifices we made this Lent, and try to realize that 40 days do not a commitment make.
- We had a fascinating speaker at this months meeting who brought an enjoyable Power Point presentation. Our speaker was Chuck Kreimers, the local head of and driving spirit behind the Cincinnati Chapter of Crime Stoppers (a great local organization that Bob Thinnes is heavily involved with). Really worthwhile and fascinating presentation, you never know what's going to happen at our meetings. For more information on CrimeStoppers, check out their web page at: www.crime-stoppers.com
- Jim O'Shaughnessy covered the financial data. We are very active with the group funds, lots of inflow and outflow. Let Bob know if you can think of any good fundraisers.
- The St Ann's Chicken Dinner was very successful. Again, SAMA's own Jim O'Shaughnessy handled the accounting duties. We are very lucky to have a member of his talent and willingness to share it.
- Richard Sweet had a couple of notes for us: Richard has graciously volunteered to organize the St. Ann's end of the school year campout at Winton Woods. As of the date of this months meeting there were still 7 campsites available, contact Richard or let the Secretary know if you would like to attend.
- Richard also mentioned: Last year he was able to provide a number of free tickets to a Reds game. It looks like we will be doing this again thanks to Richards's efforts. We will probably make this a fundraiser for the coffers with a minimal donation. Last year, you will remember if you were there, we saw Adam Dunn hit a ninth inning walk off grand slam. Doesn't get any better than that.
- Lets all keep Kelly + Brian Ante and the Hardig's in our prayers as she nears delivery of Kelly and Brian's first child.
- Most of us know the Brandts and all of us know the Sweets. Both family's lost their wives mother this month, please keep them in your prayers.
- The Roesner's lost a relative, Mike Cross. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
- We had the usual readings and prayers this month, and just enjoyed the time together. Hope you can make next months meeting.
- Next Months Meeting is Tuesday April 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the school annex, ABC meeting room.
