Meeting minutes from meeting of 7/24/07

    • This months meeting was SAMA's 24th
    • Big crowd at this month's meeting, 16 attendees.
    • Confirmed at this month's meeting the number of guests at Richard Sweet's Reds Outing, courtesy of his employer. This was last Friday night's game against the Cubs (the only one they won of the series). In spite of a long delay at the beginning of the game (rain), this was again a very good time and exciting contest. Thanks, Richard!!!!
    • Reviewed at this meeting the recent Croquet Fest at President Thinne's palatial estate. Speaking for my self, I was pleasantly surprised by what a great time this event was. Your friends in SAMA know how to have fun, help us celebrate our friendship by attending some meetings!
    • Current Event: This weekend, August 4th: The annual SAMA/St. Joe's Orphanage World championship Wiffleball tourney. This is a "founding event" of our group.

If you can: Make plans to join us at St. Joe's (by LaSalle high school) at 10:30 a.m. for fun, losing, and food.

You'll never know what this means till you attend one of these!

You'll never have this much fun tanking anything else!

Event is 100% taken care of and is very family friendly.

Typically: LaRosa's pizza and UDF Ice-Cream, all arranged by Bob and Bruce. You need to join in this one.

    • Laura Nickol stopped by to remind us all to support the cedar Grove Indiana Volunteer Fire Fighters Festival, Friday + Saturday August 24th and 25th. These folks cook for St Ann at the hugely successful Indiana Style Chicken Dinner, and have refused all offers of remuneration.

If you have a chance to stop by here, make sure you tell the Cooks you are from St. Ann's.

Several of us took raffle tickets to sell (including myself). If you are interested, let me know: $2.00 ea, 3 for $5.00, top prize $10,000.00

    • Need a volunteer with real estate and or legal experience:

Steve Schukleman (??) has a time-share week in Denver area to donate to SAMA, if it is advantageous for us to take it. There are some complications (such as a $614 yearly maintenance fee). We understand this week is "transferable" to other sites, but need somebody with experience to investigate this and report to SAMA.

I didn't get a phone number, but if you are interested and can help, e-mail me back and I will track down the rest of this info.

    • There is a general request for decent quality used men's clothing for donation to the Mary Magdalene House downtown. This organization provides a shower, haircut, and change of clothes to disadvantaged people and always has needs of men's items.
    • The SAMA Golf outing, 3-club tournament is October 7th 2007 at Beech Creek. Mark your calendars. Also keep in mind that we can definitely use door prizes and sponsors this year! Bob gave away all his "good junk" at last years event!
    • Bob has asked if anyone interested in participating in this year's WEBN Run Like Hell event mark October 26th 2007 as the date. This is a great, fun, family friendly fright fest!
    • Anyone got any ideas about how to use a bunch of free movie passes to the Danbury Theaters?
    • Ongoing issue: There has been continued conversation about the amount of time devoted strictly to religious issues at our meetings. We'd love to have your opinions, show up at a meeting and let us know what you think.
    • Father Tom dropped of a DVD on Priesthood vocations. We were supposed to watch this at the meeting but couldn't find a DVD. Secretary Birkenhauer took control of this item, if you know of anyone who might be interested, let me know, and I will make sure they get a chance to review this DVD before I return it to the rectory.
    • Next Months Meeting is Tuesday August 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the school annex, ABC meeting room.
